Emilio Parrilla is an eclectic musician from Andalucía (Spain). His musical career has been related with jazz, latin, klezmer and theatre music. He focus his musical activity in the composition, performance of different projects and music education. As a leader he has two main projects. With his Acoustic Band, he is looking for a personal sound, close to chamber music, cool jazz and avant-garde. With the band Naftule, he explores the fusion of jazz, klezmer and theater music. With these projects he has record three albums.
Emilio Parrilla has performed in festivals, theaters and clubs in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and America: Jeonju Sori Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Taichung Jazz Festival, Lowlands Paradise Festival, Yokohama Jazz Festival, Siena Acquaviva Festival, Jazzolontia, Polar Jazz Night, FIA Festival, Festival Cervantino de México... As composer he is working mostly with dance and theatre companies. With the composition "El Soberao" he got the first prize PAD 2015 to the best original composition for dance show. Also nominated to best music by Escenarios de Sevilla 2018 with "En vano" and 2019 PAD awards with "El Festín de los cuerpos". In 2021 I-portunus grants him scholarship to record his fourth album as leader.
He has collaborated as sideman on different projects with great musicians and bands: Syo Fang Octet, Yoojin Ko quartet, Pedro Diaz Trio, L'Chaim, Javier Galiana, Julian Sanchez or Miguel Vargas.
